Last Friday was a work mate’s last day with us. We all refer to him at work as Mr Pete but then again we all refer to each other as Mr [first name]. One of the oldest member of the team (about 11 years with us) said I didn’t realise this team got so formal. Anyway Mr Pete is one of those fellas you hate because he thinks he knows everything but yet he is always funny and always finding himself in situations where the whole team has to insult him. Not too sure why but I suspect it’s got to do with the amount of insults he dishes out in the first place.

What freaks me out about Mr Pete is his ultra paranoia with people knowing his identity. We’ve been in numerous heated conversations on the necessity of identification with boarding on flights, health insurance, superannuation, credit cards and probulation. He seems to disagree with all those topics. Had to add probulation as there is this joke where I am for it! Depending on the person doing it though :P . Due to his amount of paranoia last month, I told him that i’ll make him an alfoil hat so that it’ll protect him from “them”.

After the weekends, I found out that instead of taking a plane to an undisclosed state in Australia, he had decided to take the trains instead. MY HAT WAS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT YOU!! Then again, not sure what the airport security would think of a large 6 ft 4″ man walking through security with a alfoil hat :)

It was a pleasure to work with Mr Pete. He managed to convince me that there was a purpose to vim and regexes. Also subversion is an oookkkaayyy source control though he failed to give me clearcase! We’ll miss him :)
